Stay alert against those defaming Sanatan Dharma: Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh chief minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that some people are trying to weaken Sanatan Dharma in the name of religion and people should remain alert.

Addressing a gathering at Nath sect in Sonepat, Yogi said that the community should remain alert and united to protect its eternal tradition and values. “Deliberate attempts are being made to create confusion and distort religious values. For saints and monks, dharma is supreme. True monks do not own personal property. Renunciation, sacrifice and service define the life of a monk,” the CM said during an idol consecration ceremony in Sonepat

The UP chief minister’s statements came amid a controversy erupted at the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj after the mela-administration issued second show cause notice to Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, seeking an explanation over alleged violations of administrative norms during the fair.

Yogi warned the people to stay alert against those defaming Sanatan dharma. “Many evil-minded people are defaming sanatan and we should be cautious of such people. You have to identify and make distance from people who spread hatred,” he added.
