Two die after inhaling toxic fumes from sewer line in Panipat
The family members of Jai Bhagwan have accused his employers of negligence and forcing him to enter the sewer line without safety equipment.
Two people died after inhaling toxic fumes of a sewer line near Noorwala Chowk of Panipat city on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Jai Bhagwan, 35, a sanitation worker and a resident of Noorwala village of Panipat, and Surender Singh, 25, a transporter and resident of Indira Vihar Colony of Panipat.
As per the police, Jai Bhagwan had removed the lid of a sewer line to clean it, but collapsed after inhaling the toxic fumes.
Surender, who was passing by, rushed to rescue the sanitation worker but he too collapsed due to the noxious fumes and got stuck inside the sewer line.
Some locals informed the police following which the duo was taken out and rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Tehsil camp in-charge Phool Kumar said a case has been registered against Jai Bhagwan’s supervisor and private company under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
The bodies were handed over to the deceased’s kin after post-mortem examination.
