Two women were booked for snatching a 47-year-old woman’s gold chain at Singhpura Chowk in Zirakpur on Tuesday.
The accused, Karamjit, 45,and Sibo, 55, are at large. The complainant, Suresh Devi, who lives in Panchkula, was returning after attending her nephew’s wedding when the snatchers struck.
“I was about to board a bus when the two women cornered me. I raised the alarm after they snatched my chain, but they managed to flee,” the complainant said. Cops are scanning CCTV footage in the area to trace the accused.
A case has been registered under Section 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Zirakpur police station.
