According to police, David Kumar works as a cash collection agent with a cellular company distributor in Navyug Market and had gone to the field for cash collection on Monday morning.

“Around 12 noon, he went home for lunch in Nandgram. Half an hour later, when he was returning for duty, he was cornered by two armed men on a Pulsar bike, barely 25 metres from his house. They inflicted injuries on the victim with a sharp-edged weapon and snatched his cash bag,” said Manish Mishra, circle officer (city).

“We have launched a search for the bikers. We also tried to get the CCTV footage from a nearby school but the cameras there were not functional. We will rope in local intelligence and also use electronic surveillance to trace the accused. An FIR for robbery has been lodged,” he said.

“My brother suffered a deep cut on his forearm, seemingly inflicted by a knife. The locals also told us that the robbers fired two shots in the air to scare people and fled on the bike. My brother is under treatment,” said Rohit Kumar, victim’s brother.
