3 drown in east Delhi lake, cause unclear

New Delhi

Three men aged between 22 and 25 years drowned in the Sanjay Jheel, near Kotla village in Pandav Nagar, on Tuesday evening, police said.

Locals said they were residents of Kalyanpuri and frequented the lake, but drowned while swimming.

Police said they received information about the incident at 7.25pm and that they were found unresponsive after being rescued.

Deputy commissioner of police (east) Rajeev Kumar said, “The bodies have been shifted to LBS Hospital, where further medico-legal proceedings are being conducted. Their exact names, addresses and other particulars are being ascertained.”

Police said the cause of the drowning is being ascertained.
