40-yr-old man strangles wife in front of children in Delhi: Police
The accused, Umeed Singh, a carpenter, was living with his 35-year-old wife as a tenant in Chand Bagh area in northeast Delhi
A 40-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife in front of their four children at their home in northeast Delhi on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police said.

Joy Tirkey, the deputy commissioner of police (northeast), said that Umeed Singh, a carpenter, was living with his 35-year-old wife as a tenant in Chand Bagh.
“On Tuesday night, the couple got into an argument over marital arguments. The fight escalated into violence and in a fit of rage, the man strangled his wife. The couple had three children from their marriage of over seven years, and another child from the woman’s previous marriage. All of their four children were present in the house at the time of incident,” he said.
He further said that a PCR call was received about the incident at 12:46am on Wednesday, in which the caller informed the police about a death due to domestic dispute.

“When the police reached the spot, it was found that the woman was lying unconscious there. She was immediately taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead. Singh was arrested and a case of murder was registered at Chand Bagh police station. The deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem,” the DCP added.
