BJP leader’s mobile phone snatched near Jama Masjid

Deputy commissioner of police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said the incident took place around 6.45pm on Monday, when Goel’s Ertiga car was coming from Daryaganj towards Red Fort, through Subhash Marg.

Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Vijay Goel’s phone was allegedly snatched near the Jama Masjid Metro station on Monday, police said.

Deputy commissioner of police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said the incident took place around 6.45pm on Monday, when Goel’s Ertiga car was coming from Daryaganj towards Red Fort, through Subhash Marg. “When his vehicle reached nearJama Masjid Gate No. 4, a boy came close to his vehicle and snatched his mobile phone from his hand and ran away,” DCP Kalsi said.

Goel’s personal security officer Satyavir (assistant sub-inspector) alerted the police control room, the DCP said.

“A case has been registered and investigation has been taken up. We are checking the CCTV footage from the area to identify the snatcher,” he said.

HT tried to contact Goel on his other phone numbers but they were switched off.
