LG asks DDA to draft a plan transform Delhi’s sub-cities

Lieutenant Governor Sandhu urges DDA to develop non-polluting industries in Delhi's sub-cities, aiming to transform them into economic hubs.

Lieutenant governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has asked the Delhi development Authority (DDA) officials to look into the possibilities of establishing non-polluting industries to sub-cities in Delhi to transform them into modern economic hubs.

In a recent meeting, Sandhu discussed the modalities of developmental initiatives that could bring transformative changes in the three sub-cities of Dwarka, Rohini and Narela. The LG has directed DDA officials to come up with a concrete plan of action in consultation with all stakeholders at the earliest.

Further, he underlined that developments like making the UER operational, extensive network of metro lines, and Yashobhoomi coupled with large investment ready DDA land parcels, have made these localities fit for being developed as decentralised economic hubs.

He advised the officers to look into the prospects of non-polluting IT/ITes, healthcare, Global Capability Center (GCCs) and digital infra industries being attracted to these areas, for setting of their operations and offices, officials said.

With enhanced connectivity of these sub-cities to the main city, these areas could also be developed as a hub for data centres, semi-conductor plants and warehousing, in line with the provisions of the master plan, officials added.
