Stalker stabs woman several times in Delhi, nabbed
Hearing her cries, local residents took the woman to a nearby clinic. She was subsequently taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital where she is undergoing treatment
A 22-year-old man stabbed a 21-year-old woman allegedly because she broke up with him in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on Monday, police said, adding they arrested the man on Tuesday.

Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Usha Rangnani identified the man as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, a resident of Adarsh Nagar and said that according to the FIR, the woman, a student and a resident of Azadpur extension, was on her way to learn to drive around 12pm when Singh caught her by the arm and took her to a street in Majlis Park. “He asked why I left him and not my family. When I refused to entertain his questions, he pulled out a knife and stabbed me multiple times. I fell to the ground and shouted for help,” the woman said, adding that Singh continued to attack her but no one came to help her.

When Singh saw her bleeding from the forehead and neck, he fled. Hearing her cries, locals then took her to a nearby clinic. She was subsequently taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Police were then informed and a case under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered.
Police also recovered CCTV footage of the incident wherein the man and woman are seen walking in a lane. After a few minutes, the man takes out a knife and attacks the woman.
Police said they traced Singh to Ambala in Haryana with the help of technical surveillance. “A team rushed to Ambala and apprehended him on January 3,” the officer said.
During interrogation, Singh told police that the two had been in a relationship for the past few years but broke up recently. “Singh used to work at a call centre but left his job and decided to take revenge. He switched off his mobile phone and removed the SIM card. He bought a knife from a shop in the area. Since the two are from the same neighbourhood, Singh was aware of her routine. On the day of the incident, he tried to convince her to resume their relationship, but she refused and he stabbed her with a knife,” the officer said.
