'Family growing': AAP says as 16 in Amritsar civic body join party

In photos shared by the AAP, Delhi deputy chief minister and party leader Manish Sisodia was seen greeting the councilors. 

Sixteeen councilors of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday, the party tweeted as the city saw a huge roadshow by the party that clinched 92 of 117 assembly seats in the state elections. "AAP Family is growing! 16 sitting councilors of Amritsar Municipal Corporation joined AAP in the presence of AAP Senior Leader @msisodia, Mayor @karamjitrintu & Punjab in-charge @JarnailSinghAAP. After winning Assembly, AAP's flag is now waving in municipal corporations too! (sic)" read the tweet by the party.

In photos shared by the AAP, Delhi deputy chief minister and party leader Manish Sisodia was seen greeting the councilors and welcoming them to the party. This was another boost for the AAP that has claimed a landslide win in the state election. The Congress managed to win just 18 seats.

Several AAP candidates have registered impressive performance, defeating heavyweights like Charanjit Singh Channi, the chief minister, five-time CM Parkash Singh Badal, and Navjot Singh Sidhu among others.

On Sunday, Arvind Kejriwal thanked Punjab for the mandate at a huge roadshow. "For the first time after so many years, Punjab has now got an honest Chief Minister. Now all the money will be spent on Punjab and its people. We will fulfill all the guarantees," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Bhagwant Mann, the AAP's CM pick, will take oath on Wednesday. On Saturday, he staked claim to form the government. He has also promised to bring huge reforms in the state. "We've decreased security of 122 people and due to that 403 police personnel and 27 police vehicles have returned to the police stations. No government office will have CM's photos but will have pictures of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar," he was quoted as saying by ANI at the roadshow.
