Additional Commissioner of Police Kailash Chand Bishnoi said that the CST team comprising ASI Ummed Singh and head constable Nemichand went to Dausa to nab a bunch of criminals. While on their way back, Nemichand spotted one of the culprits, Sunil aka Sultan, on the Jaipur-Agra highway in another car; Sunil has been absconding in connection with a case in Jawaharnagar police station.
When the police stopped their car at the Benad turning near Bassi to catch him, Sunil fired at Nemichand from his country-made pistol, injuring the constable as the bullet grazed his arm and chest.
Upon receiving information on the firing, the local police force from the Bassi station also arrived and arrested the accused. The injured constable was admitted to a nearby hospital and discharged after primary treatment.
The police recovered illegal weapons, cartridges, and pistols from the accused’s car, while two aides of his escaped during the firing.
The accused, who was first arrested by the police in 2019, has more than 10 charges against him in Jawahar Nagar, Khoh, Nagoriyan, Sanganer, and many other police stations, officials familiar with the matter said.
DGP Umesh Mishra declared gallantry promotion for Nemichand and Ummed Singh for their bravery, and a reward of ₹10,000.
