52 industrial groups confirm intent for investment in Uttar Pradesh

These industrial groups have also said they will participate in Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit-2023 scheduled to be held from February 10 to 12

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday claimed its teams holding road shows abroad were getting an “overwhelming response” with 52 industrial groups confirming their intent to invest in the state.

These groups have also said they will participate in the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit-2023 (UPGIS-2023) scheduled to be held here from February 10 to 12, 2023, the government added, while pointing out that its teams have held the initial round of road shows at different destinations overseas.

The groups that have confirmed investment and participation are associated with pharmaceuticals, business chambers, business development, investment banks, capital markets, vehicle motor industry, technology, R and D, telecom and food processing sectors, according to a press release.

Besides these 52 industrial groups, a number of other organisations have assured to send representatives to the summit.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has set a target of attracting of 10 lakh crore investment at the GIS-2023 to boost the state’s economy to a trillion dollars in five years.

The Uttar Pradesh government teams began their road shows at Frankfurt, Germany on December 9. They have held similar events in Toronto (Canada) and Mexico. A team led by minister for industry Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ and minister for public works Jitin Prasada is holding a road show at Brussels, Belgium, on Monday.

More roadshows are scheduled in Sweden among other destinations.

A team led by deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak met the representatives of the Brazil-India chambers of commerce and industry at Sao Paulo, Brazil and invited the entrepreneurs to invest in Uttar Pradesh. Pathak and his team discussed with them the possibilities of investment in agriculture, dairy development, IT and Pharma sectors in the presence of agriculture production commissioner Manoj Singh, additional chief secretary Sanjay Bhoosreddy and Rajnish Dubey.

Other senior officers, including additional chief secretary Navneet Sehgal, excise commissioner Senthil C Pandian and secretary, MSME, Pranjal Yadav are accompanying the team in Belgium.

Tourism and culture minister Jaivir Singh, along with minister for technical education Ashish Patel, is leading another delegation to South Korea. The team interacted with investors at the dinner that India’s ambassador to South Korea hosted for the delegation there. The team briefed the investors about the steps taken to improve the law and order situation in the state and various sectoral policies.

The state government’s teams are giving assurances to the industrial groups about the favourable and secure climate for investment in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has worked out a list of sectors and investors in different countries who are keen to invest in the state. Such investment is likely to lead to large-scale economic growth and employment.

Those who have given their consent to invest in Uttar Pradesh and come to the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit include Dhaval Patel from the pharmaceuticals sector, Arne Aertbelien from Invest Asia, Jeroen Maudens from corporate finance, Aditya Sharma from Chamber of Luxembourg, Elena Suárez from Business Europe , Specialist Wim Bosman from Credendo, MD Pascal Kerneis from ESF Indian Association, Selvaraj Alagumalai from Luxembourg,Baron Philippe Vlerick from Chairman BICC&I and a representative from Eurochambres.

The others include CEO of IMEC, BIO EIBC, Malhar Fund, European Investment Bank, Diplomatic World, SME Connect, Industry and Space Mithra, Hyundai Motor Group, Incofin, India House Leuven, Leuven Mindgate, TCS, European Institute of Asian Studies, Nokia, Representatives from leading companies such as ELCC, VDMM, World Telecom Labs, Antwerp Emotec, Tag Factory, Agristo Massa, UCB Pharma and Deloitte Belgium will also attend the GIS-2023.
