‘Amrit Bharat Station’:3 Prayagraj stations too poised for revamp

NCR general manager Satish Kumar gave detailed information for re-development works for Prayagraj Junction and other railway stations selected for the projects in the region. The officials also showed the future development works in Prayagraj on big screens.

PRAYAGRAJ: The renovation projects for beautification and modernisation of 508 railway stations across the country, virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday included Prayagraj Junction, Prayag and Phulpur railway stations too..

The North-Central Railway (NCR) had made special arrangements for the occasion. The audience applauded soon after the Prime Minister pressed the button of the remote for inaugurating the projects.

Addressing the MPs, MLAs, freedom fighters, sportspersons, railway officials, school children and others, UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya spoke a length about the development works to be carried out by central and state governments.

He said the BJP government was ready to welcome pilgrims during Mahakumbh-2025, whether they were 24 crore or 48 crore in number. Passengers would now be able to enjoy airport-like facilities at the railway stations after completion of these projects.

He said that Prayagraj had received 960 crore for development works.

He alleged that pilgrims faced mishap during Kumbh-2013 when Samajwadi Party was in power in the state and the Congress at the centre. Meanwhile, no one faced any difficulty when Kumbh-2019 was organised on a large scale and 24 crore pilgrims arrived in Prayagraj for the religious fair.

The freedom fighters were honoured while cultural programmes were also organised . The GM awarded prizes to the school children who participated in different competitions organised by railways.

State minister in-charge for Prayagraj Swatantra Dev Singh, state transport minister Dayashankar Singh, MPs Keshari Devi Patel and Vinod Sonkar, MLAs Siddharth Nath Singh, Guru Prasad Maurya, Vachaspati and Piyush Ranjan Nishad and MLCs Nirmala Paswan, Surendra Chaudhary and KP Srivastava, among others, participated in the programme.

At Prayag station, foundation stone of project ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ was laid under MLA Harshvardhan Bajpai.
