Another wolf shot dead after fresh sighting in Bahraich

The forest department on Sunday shot dead another wolf in the Kaiserganj area of Bahraich district following fresh sightings reported by villagers, officials said. This is the second wolf killed in the area within two days as part of ongoing operations.

According to officials, forest shooters later surrounded the wolf in a riverine area during the evening hours. Attempts were made to rescue the animal, but when it tried to flee, a shooter opened fire. The wolf died on the spot due to gunshot injuries.

With the latest action, a total of six wolves have been killed during forest department operations in the area. Officials said that since September 9 this year, wolf attacks in the district have resulted in the deaths of 10 children and an elderly couple.
