Beware of those doing politics in name of Maya: BSP national coordinator
Some opportunists are trying to run their political shops in the name of ‘Behenji’ (Mayawati). One needs to beware of such selfish people, said Akash Anand in a tweet
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national coordinator Akash Anand on Monday slammed the leaders of those political parties, which as per him, were doing politics in the name of his party chief Mayawati.
In a tweet, Anand, who is Mayawati’s nephew, said, “The whole world appreciates the governance, administration, discipline of BSP national president and former UP chief minister Mayawati. Some opportunists are trying to run their political shops in the name of ‘Behenji’ (Mayawati). One needs to beware of such selfish people.”
A BSP leader said, “The tweet of party national coordinator is a message to the Bhim Army chief Chandrasekhar Azad as well as Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar. Both Azad and Rajbhar are eager to form an alliance with BSP. The duo has lauded Mayawati’s efforts to empower the weaker section and her governance when she was the chief minister of UP. The Bhim Army and the SBSP are trying to make inroad into the Dalit support base of the BSP.”
In the 2020 Bihar assembly election, the BSP had launched the Grand United Secular Front (GUSF) by stitching an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP), the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), the Samajwadi Janta Dal (SJD), the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and the Janvadi Party Socialist (JPS). After the Bihar election, the SBSP formed an alliance with SP in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
An aide of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar was among the founder members of the BSP. After Mayawati took up the reins of the party, he walked out of the BSP in 2001 to launch the SBSP, the BSP leader said.
After breaking alliance with the Samajwadi Party, Om Prakash Rajbhar announced that SBSP will form an alliance with the BSP. When asked if he had talked to the BSP leadership, Rajbhar replied that he was trying to contact the BSP chief. Later Rajbhar said he was also in contact with the BJP leadership and met senior BJP leaders. General secretary of the SBSP Arun Rajbhar on Monday said the party will take a final decision over its future political alliance within a week.
On Friday, the Uttar Pradesh government gave ‘Y’ category security to Om Prakash Rajbhar fuelling speculations that he will forge an alliance with the BJP. A minister in the Yogi government 1.0, Rajbhar was sacked in May 2019. He might be inducted into the cabinet again. There is a buzz in the political circles that one of his sons might be offered a seat in the legislative council bypolls to be held on August 11.
