In Braj region, it was past forward for Bharatiya Janata Party
In a close repeat of its 2017 performance, saffron party wins 34 out of 40 seats. SP improves tally while Cong and BSP face debacle
Agra Keeping the Braj region firmly in its grasp, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) repeated its 2017 performance, winning 33 out of the total 40 assembly seats. However, it fell just one seat short of its 2017 tally of 34. All five ministers in the Yogi cabinet from Braj region won their seats.

Though Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav won comfortably from Karhal by a margin of 67504 votes, the BJP managed to increase its tally in Mainpuri district by winning the Sadar seat. To note, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is the MP from Mainpuri.
The saffron party again made a clean sweep in Agra, Etah and Aligarh and added Mathura to the list, winning all five seats including Mant, an assembly seat never won by the BJP since independence.
However, it suffered a setback in Firozabad district and could win only 2 seats this time, although had won four in 2017. The Samajwadi Party won three assembly seats in Firozabad against only one in 2017.
In 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had won 34 out of 40 assembly seats. Its tally went down by one seat in 2022.
The Samajwadi Party had won four assembly seats in Braj region in 2017 and this year, it won six, gaining two. The RLD which could not win any seat in 2017 assembly elections, won the prestigious seat of Sadabad where its candidate Guddu Chaudhary defeated ailing Ram Veer Upadhyaya contesting on BJP ticket this time.
The most dismal performance in Braj region was of the Congress which could not even open its account. The Bahujan Samaj Party too failed to win any seat in Braj region which includes Agra, known as dalit capital, where the BSP won 6 out of 9 assembly seats in 2007 and 2012.
The decline of the BSP was notable as it had won 19 assembly seats in Braj region in 2007 state assembly election and 11 in 2012.
Notably, all ministers in Yogi cabinet, who contested from Braj region, namely Sri Kant Sharma (Mathura), Laxmi Narain Chaudhary (Mathura), GS Dharmesh (Agra), Ram Naresh Agnihotri (Mainpuri) and Sandeep Singh (Aligarh) won their seats.
