Mahakumbh-2025: ₹54.32 crore released for two new ROBs in Prayagraj
The construction of two major rail overbridges (ROBs) in Tharwai and Soraon tehsils before Mahakumbh-2025 has gained momentum, with the government releasing the first instalment of ₹54.32 crore against the total budget of ₹217.88 crore. The tender will be issued in April, and after that, the construction work for projects sanctioned as part of preparations for Mahakumbh-2025 will start in the district.
Contruction of two major rail overbridges (ROBs) before the start of Mahakumbh-2025 is now all set to gain momentum. The government has released the first instalment of ₹54.32 crore against the total budget of ₹217.88 crore for these two projects of UP State Bridge Corporation, say officials in the know of things. These two ROBs are to come up at Tharwai and Soraon tehsils. Now the tender will be issued in April, they add.

In view of Mahakumbh 2025, the apex committee had sent a proposal of ₹2500 crore for 86 projects to the government. Now, the government has started releasing funds for undertaking the proposed projects. A total budget of ₹71.19 crore was sought for ROB at Tharwai on Phaphamau-Padila road. The government has released an amount of ₹17.77 crore for it in first instalment.
At the same time, a total proposal of ₹146.69 crore was made for the ROB at Gohri in Shantipuram, against which an amount of ₹36.55 crore has been released.
The Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Ltd had sent a proposal for a total of five ROBs in Prayagraj. Officials say that the funds for the remaining three ROBs are also expected to be issued in the coming days.
It is expected that after April, the construction work for projects sanctioned as part of preparations for Mahakumbh-2025 will start in the district. The minister in-charge of the district Swatantra Dev Singh, who came to Prayagraj last week, had directed that the work on big projects should be expedited before the rain start in June-July.
Meanwhile, the obstacle of constructing the Salori ROB, being constructed near Teliarganj Mazar tri-section, has also been removed. For this, the government has released an additional budget of ₹9 crore. The government started the work for Salori ROB two years ago which is being built at a cost of about ₹46 crore.
