A video of the purported incident surfaced online, showing the SP legislator slapping Deepak Singh. Rakesh Pratap Singh is SP MLA from Gauriganj assembly of Amethi while Deepak Kumar Singh’s wife Rashmi Singh is the BJP candidate for chairperson’s post of Gauriganj Municipal Council.

SP (Amethi) Elamaran G said said the brawl happened between the two groups led by the SP MLA and Deepak Kumar Singh when they came face to face at the police station’s entrance around 11am. “The police have registered an FIR on the complaint by Deepak Kumar Singh and are probing the matter. We will take action as per the findings of the investigation,” he said.
