UP MLC polls: Nominations for 36 seats to restart from today
“Polling for all the 36 seats will be held simultaneously on April 9 and counting of votes will be done on April 12,” said chief electoral officer.
The nominations for the MLC polls on 36 seats under 35 local bodies in Uttar Pradesh will restart from Tuesday, the election commission (EC) said here in a press statement.
Chief electoral officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said that the nomination papers that might have been filed for any of the 35 constituencies on February 4 and 5, 2022 would also be taken into consideration with other nomination papers that will be filed from March 15 to 19.
“Polling for all the 36 seats will be held simultaneously on April 9 and counting of votes will be done on April 12,” he said.
As per the earlier notification on February 4, MLC polls were to be conducted in two phases on March 3 for 29 constituencies and for 6 constituencies on March 7.
The commission had to reschedule the MLC polls last month on the request of several political parties that pleaded that it would be better if MLC polls were held after assembly elections were over.
