‘I’m vegetarian, never bowed to mafia’: Congress' Ajay Rai slams Yogi amid fish feast row

“I challenged you to bring photographs or videos of my eating fish to the public and I will quit politics, but I have received none,” Rai said.

Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Thursday said he has written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the latter’s recent attack regarding an alleged fish feast held during a welcome programme for Rai in Ayodhya, claiming that he is a vegetarian and has never bowed before any mafia.

“You are the chief min Raister and you accused me of enjoying a fish feast after visiting Ayodhya and bowing before mafia. I am a vegetarian, and the event I was attending was at the invitation of the Nishad community. The organisers hosted a feast for their community. It was their constitutional right to choose what they ate.

“I challenged you to bring photographs or videos of my eating fish to the public and I will quit politics, but I have received none,” Rai said in his letter shared with the media.

Regarding the accusation that he has been intimidated by the mafia, he said he had not bowed to any mafia since the murder of his brother Awadhesh Rai.
