Uttar Pradesh working tirelessly to defeat TB, says Yogi Adityanath
In the last five years, ₹422 crore has been made available to 16.90 lakh TB patients in Uttar Pradesh through DBT as nutritional assistance, Yogi Adityanath says
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Uttar Pradesh was working tirelessly to defeat tuberculosis (TB).
“I am confident that TB will be defeated and India will win,” he said at the inaugural session of the three-day One World TB Summit at Rudraksha Convention Centre in Varanasi on World TB Day.
“The country is moving at a rapid pace towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s goal of a TB-free India by 2025. Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state once had 21% of the country’s TB patients. In the last five years, a total of ₹422 crore has been made available to 16.90 lakh TB patients in U.P. through DBT (direct benefit transfer) as nutritional assistance,” he added.
The chief minister also said that so far, 2.70 lakh TB patients have been adopted and nutritional materials have been provided. As a result, 70% of these tuberculosis patients have been completely cured, and they are leading a heathy life, he said.
“Special attention is being given to the TB investigation at PM Ayushman Wellness Centre. Today, the process of distributing more than 80,000 kits on a war footing is underway in various districts across the state,” he added.
“We are committed to keeping the 25 crore population of U.P. healthy,” he said.
India is moving at a rapid pace towards fulfilling the PM Modi’s goal and vision of a TB-free India by 2025, he noted.
All schemes in Uttar Pradesh have been implemented with priority over the last six years under PM Modi’s guidance, he added.
“On the occasion of World TB Day, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union health minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya for organising this programme in Kashi. Kashi is the place of the PM’s ‘Karma Sadhana’, from where he is representing the country in Parliament.”
“Today, India is reaching new heights and emerged strong in every field under the leadership of PM Modi,” the chief minister.
“It is a matter of fortune that India, in the first year of its ‘Amrit Kaal,’, has got G20 presidency under leadership of PM Modi,” Adityanath said.
He also said success was achieved in controlling communicable diseases, Japanese encephalitis and acute encephalitis syndrome by up to 96% in Uttar Pradesh.
India had presented a Covid management model to the world, he added.
“In Uttar Pradesh, 40 crore doses of Covid vaccine were administered for free,” he added.
The chief minister further said the maternal mortality rate was previously 285 per lakh in U.P. but has now been reduced to 167 per lakh. The infant mortality rate was previously 57 per thousand, which the government was able to reduce to 38 per thousand, he added.
