Miscreants steal ₹2.5 lakh from car in Ghumar Mandi
In a broad daylight theft incident, some unidentified miscreants stole a bag containing cash after smashing the windowpane of a car in Ghumar Mandi on Friday. They later fled from the spot unnoticed due to heavy rush owing to festivities. However, on being informed the Division Number 8 police reached the site of the incident and stated the investigation.

The complainant, Gundeep Singh of Sukhmani Enclave said he had visited the market in Ghumar Mandi in his Maruti Suzuki Baleno car. After parking his car on roadside, he had gone to a photo stat shop, he said. “When I came out of the shop, I was shocked to see my car’s windowpane broken open and found the bag, which contained ₹2.5 lakh and was kept inside the vehicle, missing,” he said, adding, “I immediately sounded to the police.”
Station house officer (SHO) of the Division Number 8 police station, inspector Gurmeet Singh, said police had enquired about miscreants from the locals, shopkeepers and visitors however no one had witnessed the incident.
Police are scanning the CCTVs installed in the area to identify the accused, added the inspector. A case has been registered against the unidentified accused under Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.
