According to Supriya Patil, senior police inspector, Kherwadi police station, the drone was spotted around 7.00pm on Wednesday.

“The drone operator claimed the video was being shot for an advertisement of the under-construction building, but no permission had been obtained for shooting any such video,” said Patil. “The area is highly sensitive and flying a drone there without permission is illegal.”

Based on complaints by residents who spotted the drone, the Kherwadi police registered a first information report and booked the contractor for illegally flying a drone. The police have issued a notice of appearance to the drone operator and are probing the contents of the purported advertisement for which shooting was underway, Patil said.

Earlier, on November 9, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackrey had approached the police after a drone was spotted flying near Matoshree. The drone was being used for some government survey, the police had then said.
