The BMC received a total of 3,312 applications and only 2,043 (73.52%) pandals have been granted permissions. As many as 445 applications were rejected by the BMC, while applications of 291 more pandals are under consideration.

South Mumbai is likely to house the least number of Ganesh pandals with only 22 pandals in B ward (Dongri) securing permissions and 53 pandals in A ward in Colaba.

Several sarvajanik Ganesh mandals had requested the BMC to extend the deadline, which ended on Tuesday, by four days. Keeping in mind that the ward offices were shut during weekends and public holidays, the BMC has now extended the deadline to August 26.
