Two men killed, minor injured after bike hits pole

Two men died and a minor was injured in a road accident in Bandra East, Mumbai. The trio, who were not wearing helmets, were triple-riding on a two-wheeler.

MUMBAI: Two men were killed and a minor was severely injured after the two-wheeler they were riding hit a traffic pole in Bandra East on Wednesday morning.

The deceased men have been identified as Naved Idrisi, 23, and Faiyaz Ansari, 30. They were accompanied by a 17-year-old, who is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital. None of them were wearing helmets, the police said.

According to the police, the Govandi residents were triple-riding and on the way from Bandra to Kurla.

When they tried to take their speeding vehicle up the family court bridge, they bumped into a pole and were thrown off the two-wheeler.

“Since all of them were thrown off the vehicle, we do not know who was riding it. We are waiting for the minor’s condition to improve so that we can get his statement about what exactly happened. Based on that, we will decide whether we need to register an offence against anyone for the deaths,” a police officer from BKC police said.

The officer added that some motorists who noticed the accident had alerted the police after which a team reached the spot and took the three to Bhabha Hospital. The two men were declared brought dead at the hospital and the minor was admitted for treatment. The BKC police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) in the matter.
