Hyderabad, Expressing sadness over the death of a woman in a road accident involving his son, Jana Sena MP from Andhra Pradesh Lingamaneni Ramesh has said his son had taken the victim to the hospital without delay and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Conveying heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, he said no words can lessen their grief, and that he and his family stand with them during this painful time.

In a statement posted on X, Ramesh said, immediately after the accident on August 16, his son Sanjush , who was driving the car, shifted the victim to the hospital without any delay and subsequently reported the accident to the police authorities.

A case was registered, and three separate medical tests were conducted on his son, which returned negative, he said.

Ramesh said his son is fully cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.

Observing that nothing is being concealed in the matter nor has his family attempted to avoid the legal process in any way, he said that his son has complied with every procedure required by the authorities.

"As a person holding a responsible position, I assure everyone that I will extend my complete cooperation to the Police department and the ongoing investigation. We have full faith that the truth will emerge through a fair and impartial legal process," he said.

Ramesh urged everyone to respect the grief of the bereaved family and refrain from spreading false or unverified information and allow the law to take its course.

Bharati Mukhi , a native of Odisha, who worked as a sales executive at a mall here, died after the luxury car driven by Sanjush, allegedly at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, hit her while she was crossing the road in front of the mall on August 16.

A case under section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Madhapur Police Station here on August 16, and an investigation was initiated, DCP Ritiraj said in a release on Friday.

"Immediately after the registration of the case, the driver of the vehicle was apprehended and subjected to preliminary tests for alcohol and drugs. The results of both the tests were negative," she said.

The Aston Martin driven by the Rajya Sabha member's son was seized, and its inspection was carried out by a Motor Vehicle Inspector on Friday in connection with the accident.

The Motor Vehicle Inspector's report is awaited and will form part of the investigation, police said. Subsequently, the vehicle was deposited before a city court.

On an objective assessment of the material then available, no circumstances warranted the arrest of the accused. Consequently, notice under Section 35 BNSS was issued to the accused, requiring his appearance and cooperation with the investigation, she added.
