“Till date, GDA has signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) to the tune of 7,653 crore. These account for at least 20 projects such as group housing, institutions, hospitals and facilities in Ghaziabad. We expect more proposals to come before the start of the investors’ summit and these will be incorporated further,” said Rajiv Ratan Sah, authority’s town planner.

These projects are proposed in areas along national highway 9 and the alignment of Regional Rapid Transit System project on Delhi-Meerut Road.

The summit is scheduled to be held from February 10 to 12 in Lucknow and it is the flagship investment summit of the state government.

According to officials, Ghaziabad district is surrounded by major highways and expressways and these areas have development potential in terms of housing, townships, institutional and healthcare.

Officials said the state government has asked districts to conduct ‘mini-investors’ summits’ to attract more investment. For this, departments such as industries department and other development agencies have been asked to bring in more investment proposals.

“The ‘mini summit’ in Ghaziabad will be held on January 25 and all stakeholders will be invited. Apart from investment brought in by GDA, the different departments have also been asked to bring in investment. So, the entire district’s share is expected to rise in proportion. The investment of 7,635 crore brought in by GDA has potential for providing 100,000 job opportunities,” Sah added.
