25-yr-old man who raped 5-year-old in Greater Noida held after gunfight: Police
The suspect, Tipu Sultan, lives with his wife and four-year-old daughter in Greater Noida, where he also works in a factory, said SM Khan, deputy commissioner of police, Greater Noida
The Gautam Budh Nagar police apprehended a 25-year-old man after a brief gunfight in Greater Noida, barely 12 hours after he allegedly raped a 5-year-old girl on Tuesday night.

The suspect, Tipu Sultan, lives with his wife and four-year-old daughter in Greater Noida, where he also works in a factory, said SM Khan, deputy commissioner of police, Greater Noida.
“On Tuesday evening, at 11pm, we received a written complaint from a village resident alleging that Sultan raped his 5-year-old daughter. As a result, we registered a first information report against Sultan under rape sections of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act,” said DCP Khan.
According to Ashok Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police in Greater Noida, the child was playing outside her home when the suspect approached her and raped her.
“The child and her family are familiar with Sultan. According to the complaint, Sultan, an alcoholic, took the child to a secluded area of their colony and raped her at 7pm, when the child was playing outside the home. While the girl returned home and told her mother about her ordeal, Sultan fled the scene,” Kumar said.
He added that Sultan’s wife was the one who took the girl’s parents to the police station to file the complaint. “There was a huge commotion in the colony after the mother learned about the incident. Hearing this, Sultan’s wife became aware of the situation and took the initiative to go to the police station to assist the complainants in filing a complaint against her husband. At the police station, she expressed outrage at her husband’s actions against the victim, who is nearly the same age as their daughter,” said the ADCP.
Sultan was discovered to be a severe alcoholic and had been missing from his workplace since Tuesday afternoon, according to officers associated with the case.
“Five police teams were formed to locate and apprehend the suspect. We spotted the suspect near Dhadha village in Greater Noida at 9am on Wednesday, and after we pursued him, he fired at the police party. So we shot him in the leg in retaliatory firing and apprehended him,” said the DCP.
Police recovered a pistol made in the country from the suspect.
“Sultan was arrested and is being treated in a hospital. Further investigation and legal proceedings are being conducted,” Khan said.
