Congress promises ₹750 LPG cylinder, ₹2000 old age pension in Mizoram manifesto
The Congress said the party will establish a government in Mizoram which is efficient, transparent and free from corruption
The Congress on Monday released its manifesto for poll-bound Mizoram promising cooking gas cylinder at ₹750, old age pension of ₹2,000 per month, health insurance coverage of ₹15 lakh, etc.

“The Congress party will establish a government which is efficient, transparent and free from corruption. The Congress government will strengthen grassroot democracy by giving more power, more responsibilities and financial resources to the village councils and more local bodies,” said Mizoram Congress chief spokesperson Ronald Sapa Tlai.
The party also promised to work on developing better infrastructure such as connectivity, airports, electricity etc in the state. “To enable farmers and entrepreneurs to develop sustainable economic and livelihood activities, the Congress government will establish the young Mizo Entrepreneurs Program (YmElevate) with Startup Funding provisions and target of creating 1 lakh jobs for Mizo youths,” a party statement said.
The party said for families with no government employees, there will be health insurance cover up to ₹15 lakh.
The statement also said that the party promises to increase the old age pension to ₹2,000 per month from the present ₹1,500 and increase assistance to differently-abled persons to ₹2,000 per month under the National Social Assistance Programme.
The party said it ₹5 crore in budget for terminally ill patients and promised LPG gas at ₹750 per cylinder to poor and women headed families.
Mizoram will go to polls on November 7 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3.
In the 2018 polls, the Mizo National Front emerged victorious, bagging 26 seats in the 40-member Mizoram assembly with a vote share of 37.8 per cent. The Congress secured five seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won one seat.
