DTCP officials said that an illegal colony was being developed over the agricultural land in violation of rules and without any permission from the competent authorities.

Manish Yadav, district town planner (enforcement) said that two under-construction houses, four plinths, a boundary wall and the entire road network were demolished by the enforcement team.

“The demolition drive was carried out with the support of Gurugram police. A large number of people gathered at the spot and they were asked to refrain from buying plots in illegal colonies as these will definitely face legal action and demolition,” Yadav said.

Yadav said that residents of unauthorised colonies outside the municipal area still have time and they should come forward and apply for the regularisation of their colonies before January 17.

“The property owners or RWAs of these colonies can apply for regularisation, so that they come under the framework of planning. Deficient infrastructure and other amenities will be given to these colonies once these are regularised,” Yadav added.

He also said that a sustained drive against illegal colonies will be carried out in the coming days in Sohna, Manesar and Farrukhnagar.
