Man held for shooting woman at Varanasi hotel after dispute

: The Cantt police have arrested a man accused of opening fire on a young woman at a hotel on Mall Road, officials said on Monday. The accused, Shubham Rai, a resident of Chaklola in the Kapsethi area, was arrested near the Military Hospital. Police recovered a .32 bore pistol and cartridges from his possession. Assistant cmmissioner of plice (Cantt) Apoorva Pandey said the incident took place on April 11.

During investigation, it was found that Rai had shot her after a personal dispute. case was registered and the accused was arrested by a police team led by Inspector Shivakant Mishra. Police said the woman is out of danger and is receiving treatment for a bullet injury to her back.
