GORAKHPUR Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president, Om Prakash Rajbhar, on Sunday batted for a ban on liquor in Uttar Pradesh. He said that the incumbent state government would be forced to announce a liquor ban if all women come together to raise their voice against the sale and purchase of alcohol.

Drawing a relation between crime and liquor, the party chief claimed that a ban on alcohol would bring down the crime rate significantly. He further said that his party would put a blanket ban on liquor, if voted to power in the state. “When Gujarat and Bihar could do it, why not U.P,” said the SBSP supremo.
Attacking his opponent political parties, Rajbhar said that other leaders are not sincere about providing 50% reservation to women in the state assembly and the Parliament. He added that the unity and strength of women on the issue could be an eye opener for political parties.
Addressing a Mahila Jan Adhikar rally at city’s Digvijaya Nath Park on Sunday, Rajbhar said the empowerment of women and backward classes is the need of the hour but political leaders are just spreading hate for their vested interests. Rajbhar also announced that his party would organise Mahila Jan Adhikar rally in all 18 divisions of the state.
Talking about reservation, he said that the OBC reservation quota of 27% should be maintained while adding that he would raise the issue before chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.
