Addressing the gathering during a function organised to distribute certificates of debt relief here, the MP, accompanied by the Congress leader Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary and sub-divisional magistrate Navneet Kaur Bal, said debt relief certificates worth 11 crore were distributed to 1,598 beneficiaries.

They said the initiative of the Captain Amarinder Singh-led-state government will go a long way in bringing relief to the debt-ridden farmers. The officials also said the decision will reduce the burden of debt on the economically oppressed farmers. The officials further said in the first phase 1,488 beneficiaries and now in second phase 1,598 had availed the scheme’s benefit.
