Prithviraj Chavan, former chief minister of Maharashtra and Shriniwas Patil, former governor of Sikkim, will file their nominations forms from Satara district on Thursday.

Chavan will file his nominations from the Karad assembly constituency while Patil from the Satara Lok Sabha seat. Chavan will join Patil at Satara after filing his nomination in Karad. Both the leaders will address a public rally at Karad in the evening (on Thursday) and will officially start their campaigns the polls.
Chavan refused to contest the Lok Sabha elections, hence, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) fielded Patil in his place, who is a native of Satara district.
Patil is fielded against Udayanraje Bhosale who was originally with the NCP, but defected to the BJP recently.
Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Atul Bhosale against Chavan in Karad.
