Lakhs of students were awaiting the admission process to begin, since the state Class 10 results were declared on June 15. There was a delay in announcing the schedule as the education department was waiting for the CBSE and ICSE boards to declare Class 10 results.

The first general provisional merit list for admissions to first-year junior college (FYJC) or Class 11 will be declared online on July 28 at 10 am. The first general merit list will be declared on August 3, state director of education (secondary and higher secondary) Mahesh Palkar said in a statement issued on Monday.

“As the CBSE Class 10 results were declared last week, we have announced the schedule of Class 11 admissions and the first general merit list of Round 1 admissions will be declared on August 3. Those students who get admission in the first list will have to confirm with respective colleges till August 6, 6pm. On August 7, colleges will upload final status of admitted students at 8 pm on their websites and further admission rounds will continue,” said Palkar.

“Process of students who confirm admission through centralised admission or quota admission in the first round, will be considered completed. Junior colleges can surrender the vacant minority and in-house quota seats only after the third round of admissions. Further process of other rounds will be declared later,” added Palkar.
