Maha-Metro submits DPR for Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi routes
The Vanaz to Chandni chowk corridor will have an additional metro station and Ramwadi to Wagholi will have 11 additional metro stations
PUNE The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for two metro corridors--Vanaz to Chandni chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi on July 18 (please check the date). The total length of these corridors is 12.75 km and the estimated cost is ₹3,357 crore.
Maha-Metro officials said they are likely to submit the reports for other extension corridors soon. The other routes include Khadakwasla to Swargate, SNDT to Warje, Swargate to Hadapsar, Hadapsar to Kharadi and High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR).
PMC project department’s head Srinivas Bonala said, “Maha-Metro has submitted the DPR for two corridors. We are yet to go through the report as we have received it recently.”
The length of extension of Vanaz to Chandni Chowk is 1.12 km and the total cost is Rs343.07 crore. While the total length of the Ramwadi to Wagholi corridor is 11.63 km and the total cost is Rs3,014 crore.
The Vanaz to Chandni chowk corridor will have an additional metro station and Ramwadi to Wagholi will have 11 additional metro stations.
Officials of Maha-Metro said, “The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed a three-tier elevated corridor from Wagoli towards Ahmednagar road. But as NHAI’s DPR is not finalised, Maha-Metro did not consider it while preparing the DPR. But the 9 km stretch between Ramwadi and Wagoli is common, there is a need to consider this and involve NHAI in the project.”
