The municipal commissioner presented a budget of Rs8,592 crore last year, 2022-2023. The budget is expected to exceed Rs8,500 crore this year as well.
Recently, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) meet Kumar and appealed not to hike any taxes.
Officials from the property tax department requesting anonymity said, “As only a week is remaining to end the financial year, the property tax department has already started the process to print property tax bills as usually, PMC distributes the bills for next year in the first week of April.”
“To get the benefit of the 5 per cent and 10 per cent rebates in property tax, residents have to pay property tax till May 31. Considering that the civic body used to send bills from April 1. By considering all this, it is expected that there would be no hike in tax,” said officials.
