According to the government protocol, every year after April 1 there is a probable increase in the ready reckoner rates by the government which leads to crowding of the sub registrar offices for registering of flats, commercial shops, lands etc.

Among the reasons property registrations saw rush on Tuesday was also because of the home loan rate interest discounts offered by banks.

“We wanted to avail the lower home loan interest offered by bank till March 31,” said Sumeet Joshi of Bibwewadi. Many private and public sector banks have lowered home loan rate of interest till March 31.

Buyer Kiran Agarwal said that she would be booking a four BHK flat in Kalyaninagar on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa. “We don’t want to delay further as the ready reckoner rates might increase. We have obtained token for the work and are sure that it would a hassle-free registration despite the rush at the sub registrar office,” she said.

The office faced shortage of stamps needed for property registration due to the strike and it was later restored.
