The Bharti Vidyapeeth Police on Friday arrested one person in connection with a murder of a young real estate developer on November 16.

The deceased, Nikhil alias Sanket Anubhale had lost money over cricket betting after which he was kidnapped and beaten to death by three youths identified as Vishal Amrale, Lahu Mane and Shubham More. The culprits were later booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302, 364, 388, 341, 323 and 34.
The deceased’s wife Harshada had lodged an FIR against the accused.
Following the untoward incident, the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police officials deployed different teams to nab the absconding accused. Constables Rahul Tambe and Abhijit Jadhav received information that one of the accused, Amrale, would be going near the highway. A team of policemen under the guidance of Police Inspector (PI) Srihari Bahirat and DCP (II) Smartana Patil laid a trap and arrested the accused. According to PI Bahirat, Amrale and his accomplices kidnapped the deceased over betting payments, locked him in a room and brutally assaulted him leading to his death. The other two accused will be arrested soon, he added.
