Rajasthan election dept mulls phone apps, caller tunes to promote voting

Chief electoral officer (CEO) Ashok Jain on Friday informed this while inaugurating a workshop of Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) for committee chairmen and nodal officers at secretariat.

He asked them to intensify the voter awareness campaign in remote villages around the cities.

He said, “Through SVEEP programme during assembly elections, we succeeded in removing the myth that urban voters remain less interested in casting their franchise. This time women, men and youth used their voting rights equally in cities and villages.”

Jain said it had been the effect of SVEEP campaigns around 25 lakh new voters got themselves registered.

The CEO directed district officers to use innovative techniques to spread awareness about voting. The campus ambassadors hold slogan writing, debate, poster-making competitions etc. Additional chief electoral officer Rekha Gupta requested all nodal officers to work with commitment and dedication for this mahayagya of democracy and do innovations in such a manner that attraction among people increases to cast their vote.
