A goat was detained for grazing in a senior bureaucrat’s garden in Chhattisgarh’s Koriya district on Monday.

Yes, you read that right.

The goat was categorised as a ‘repeat offender’.

The animal was accused of jumping over the bureaucrat’s iron gate and grazing on flowers and vegetables from the garden. “The peon who maintains the garden had warned the owner of the goat many times. So he filed a complaint and we arrested the goat and its owner,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector R. Srivastava.

The goat was booked under charges that could lead to a prison term of up to two years. As per NDTV reports, the animal was later granted bail after being produced in the court.

The goat’s owner was arrested and booked for ‘mischief’ and ‘criminal trespass’. The court is expected to take a decision on the case on Tuesday afternoon.
