'Apni speed kya bank me jama karaani hai?': Ex-Pakistan captain's brutal attack after Babar Azam's men lose series vs NZ

The former Pakistan captain launched a savage attack as the side conceded a narrow defeat in the deciding ODI of the series against New Zealand.

Pakistan faced a two-wicket loss in the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand on Friday, thus conceding a series defeat. The visitors won 2-1 with the win in the decider at the National Stadium in Karachi, as pressure continues to grow on Babar Azam's captaincy. Pakistan had failed to register a single win in their home Test season, losing series to Australia and England while enduring a stalemate against the Kiwis.

In colored clothing, the side faced ODI series defeats to Australia and New Zealand, while faced a 3-4 loss against Jos Buttler's men in the T20Is. Following the frustrating outings from Babar and co. on home pitches, the former cricketers are criticising Pakistan and Salman Butt, the batter who had captained the national team during his playing career, didn't mince his words as he talked about the side's indifferent performances.

Butt was critical of Pakistan's fast bowlers who relied more on slower balls throughout the final overs of the match.

“I'm most disappointed with the Pakistan bowlers. What were they doing? Ye speed kya bank me jama karaani hai? (Do you have to deposit the speed in the bank?) Neither did you bowl bouncer nor did you bowl a yorker. The batter smashed you for midwicket and front of square towards six. No yorkers, no bouncers! At one point, I think Haris Rauf bowled 10 slower balls in his two overs,” Butt said.

“You are a genuine pacer. You bowl fast. Where is your speed? Why didn't you bowl a yorker? Even if you had missed a yorker, it's not easy to smash a lower full toss for a six,” Butt further added.

Earlier, top spells from pacer Tim Southee and fifties from Devon Conway, skipper Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips helped New Zealand defeat the hosts by two wickets in Karachi. The Kiwis will now fly to India where they take part in a three-match ODI and T20I series.
