Police have renewed their appeal for two men they believe were witnesses to the incident for which Ben Stokes was arrested last month. Stokes was suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board after being arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm in Bristol.
The Test vice-captain, who was released under investigation without charge, will not fly out with the England squad for the start of the Ashes series in Australia as it stands amid ongoing investigations.
“We’re renewing our appeal to trace two men we believe could be key witnesses to a disorder in Bristol in the early hours of Monday, 25 September,” read a statement from Avon and Somerset Police.

“A 27-year-old man suffered minor facial injuries in the incident.
“The men we hope to talk to left Mbargo nightclub on Triangle West at 2.19am and walked in the direction of Queens Road with two other men.
“One of the men we want to trace is described as white, of slim build, 5ft 9ins tall and aged in his early 20s. He had short dark brown hair, was clean shaven and wore a white t-shirt with a sleeveless jumper, jeans and trainers.
“The second man is also white, 5ft 9ins tall and aged in his early 20s but is of a slightly larger build. He had short light brown hair, was also clean shaven and wore a long-sleeved round neck t-shirt, dark/black skinny jeans and trainers.
“A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and was later released under investigation.
“Three other men, aged 26, 27 and 28 have all voluntarily attended police stations for interview.”
New Balance, suppliers of the England team kit, last week announced that it has pulled the plug on a sponsorship deal with Ben Stokes reported to be worth £200,000 a year.
