IPL 2022 GT vs SRH Highlights: Rashid Khan wins the match for Gujarat Titans with last ball six

Runs and wickets in this powerplay. Abhishek Sharma starts the sixth over with two brilliant fours after which they run a single. He has got Aiden Markram at the other end and these two will have to bat deep for SRH to put something up for their bowlers to defend. 

Shami has the last laugh. An appeal for LBW that the umpire turns down. They refer it almost immediately and the replays showed three reds. So that's 6, 4, 4, W.  

Tripathi LBW b Shami 16 (10), SRH 44/2 after five overs

Mohammed Shami is getting a hiding now. Tripathi jumps out of the crease late and sends Shami soaring over cover, forcing him to rethink his good length deliveries. Tripathi lofts the next ball over covers as well and that goes for four after which Shami pitches it up and Tripathi sends it along the ground through covers for another four. 

Tripathi looking to hit Dayal over cover, mishits it towards point. Rashid is there and he goes for it one-handed, just about gets his hand to it but can't hold on to the ball. 

Shami gets the SRH captain again! Absolutely brilliant bowling from Shami. Williamson tries to play this delivery that is slightly fuller than length along the ground. But it seems through him and takes the stump. That would be a wicket regardless of which format of the game is being played. That is the fifth time Shami has dismissed Williamson in the IPL.

Short from Shami that Williamson looks to defend down but the ball ends up bouncing behind him. Lucky that it didn't crash on to the stumps. 

Inswinger to the pads from Shami and Williamson just helps it along its way to the empty leg side. Doesn't care to keep it down since the area is absolutely vacant.

Yash Dayal with the second over and he gives Abhishek a bit of room for the fourth ball. Abhishek punches that away to the boundary and that is the first four of the match. 

SRH 22/0 after 2 overs

Almost every delivery was on the money from Shami but it still goes for 11 runs. Two deliveries that flew past the batter down the leg side and the wicketkeeper are the main culprits, producing 10 extras. 

Good length delivery from Shami that seams away. Abhishek is absolutely squared up and the ball whistles past his outside edge. Gavaskar says that he would have edged that had he been set.

David Miller is one of the stalwarts of the shortest format of the game but has been out of form for a while now. However, he gave a glimpse of what he can do when he smoked an unbeaten 94 off 51 balls and helped the Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings out of nowhere in the game before their last. 

The average first innings score at Wankhede was 149 in the first four matches. It's now risen to 186 in the last five matches.

Pooran speaks to the host broadcasters: “Just staying in the present and doing exactly what the team requires of me. I am very happy for him (Markram), he is a hard-worker, even before coming here we had conversations at Punjab (Kings) at last year. We didn't perform as well as we wanted last year, but this is we are just trying to get better as batsmen. I have been working on my wicket-keeping skills. It's all about partnerships (batting) and what is required at the moment and what the team requires of me and that's how I am sticking with it. I just want to stay in the present as much as possible.”

One of the more bizarre aspects of this season. Williamson is opening the batting for SRH, has played seven innings, scored 143 runs at a strike rate of, wait for it, 94.70! What has been even more extraordinary is that this hasn't really hurt SRH but that is probably because they have been chasing some low totals but today, he simply cannot be living on that strike rate. 

Kane Williamson: The surfaces have been pretty good throughout, it's a good opportunity today. Washington Sundar comes in for Suchith. He is totally excited to be back has recovered fairly quickly and big player for our team. Both (Lockie and Umran) guys are keen to bowl fast and we do have reasonble gaps between games which I think is important and that's where you look to manage as best as you can but obviously you take conditions into account as well and at the moment he (Umran) is fit and ready.

Hardik Pandya: We are gonna bowl first. Playing on a fresh wicket and not sure how the wicket is gonna play. There might be something in it for the bowlers initially. With our batting line-up it's better that we know exactly how much we are chasing, gives us more clarity. No changes for us. We have seven options in the bowling and if the need be, I will bowl.

Gujarat Titans have gone with the same XI but a bit of a surprise in the SRH camp, Washington Sundar is back! Kane Williamson says that the spin bowling all-rounder replaces Jagadeesha Suchith. 

Gujarat Titans win the toss, choose to bowl first. Kane has finally lost a toss! He throws his hands up jokingly before stepping back to let Pandya talk to Ian Bishop. 

Hayden also said that the pitch is pretty much in the middle of the ground today. It means there are no real short or long boundaries for the teams to deal with. Just minutes away from the toss here. 

The only area where one could say GT is ahead of SRH is the spin department. Washington Sundar is yet to properly recover from the split webbing he suffered earlier this season. Even when he is around, one couldn't possibly say that he is better than Rashid Khan. However the contest is more even and Sundar is certainly a far more capable batter than Rashid is.  For now, however, SRH's pacers have helped them paper over the lack of a big name spin bowler. 

Matthew Hayden says that it might be a good idea for the captain winning the toss to choose to bat first, something that has not happened in the IPL for quite a long time. 

This is very much a contest between the two most firesome pace attacks of the IPL. On the one side, there are Umran, Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar and on the other are Ferguson, Shami and Alzarri Joseph to go with Hardik Pandya. Not a contest for the faint hearted from a batter's perspective. 

It may be unlikely that Rashid will reach that mark today. If he does then that in itself would be a record breaking performance. But he would only be the third bowler after Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir to get there if he does.
