3rd Test Day 2 Highlights: India trump England by 10 wickets within 2 days in Ahmedabad, take 2-1 series lead

Joe Root came as surprise package and ran through India's lower order. He bags a four-wicket haul after dismissing Ravichandran Ashwin. Tossed up outside off and Ashwin was done by the extra bounce. Plays a slog sweep but it goes straight to Zack Crawley at deep mid-wicket. IND: 134/9

FOUR! A cracking shot from Ashwin and first runs off Root. He picked the length superbly and sweeps it through forward square leg.

What an over it was for the England skipper. He chipped in as a part-time spinner but suddenly turned the game upside down by scalping three quick wickets. His last over was absolute gold - 2 wickets and no runs. In fact, he hasn't conceded a single run but has three wickets to his name.

The England captain hasn't conceded a single run so far but scalped two wickets in the same over to put England on top. He cleaned up Washington Sundar on the first ball of his third over and then dismissed Axar Patel a couple of deliveries later. He has three scalps under his belt now. IND: 125/8

Washing Sundar is the new batsman in. He joins Ravichandran Ashwin at the center. He has been very effective with the bat down the order in his previous two games. He is now needed to steady the Indian ship with Ashwin after India lost three wickets in quick successions.

Edge and gone. Rishabh Pant departs too quick and Root strikes for England with the ball. Tossed up delivery outside off and Pant throws his hands at the ball. A fine edge and Ben Foakes grabs it with no mistake. IND: 117/6

LBW! Another big wicket for Jack Leach. This time it's Rohit Sharma. The sweep shot brings about Rohit's downfall as he was hit on the beg leg. It was high but not high enough to miss the stumps. India five down.

It's not easy to bowl six dot balls at Pant but then again not everyone is James Anderso. The veteran England seamer bowls in the perfect corridors to keep Pant in check. Credit to the India keeper too for showing respect to the good balls. India 115/4

OUT! Ajinkya Rahane does not even wait to consult with his partner for the DRS. He knew it had hit his pads first and he was in front. What a big wicket for England. Jack Leach the man again. The ball goes through with the arm, Rahane chose the wrong ball to play the cut shot and it hurrid on to him to hit if front pad. India 114/4

Rahane just taps it on the leg side to take an easy single. India have taken the first innings lead, the first objective is done and now Rohit and Rahane have to make sure they help India take a big lead.

FOUR! Silky touch from Rahane. Just paddles it fine and gets enough to beat the long-leg fielder to get his first four. The scores are level.

Turn and bounce from Leach early on but only if England had a forward-shortleg in place, they would've seen the back of Rahane. Nevertheless, a good start from Leach. India 100/3

A tight over to start a new day. Just what you expect from an experienced pacer like James Anderson. A maiden for England. Ajinkya Rahane didn't look too troubled either, good signs for both sides so far. India 99/3

England's highest wicket-taker James Anderson will start the proceedings on Day 2 of the India vs England 3rd Test in Ahmedabad.

India lost Virat Kohli late on Day 1 but they still have Rishabh Pant apart from the two over night batsmen Rohit and Rahane. Pant is someone who can take the game away from England very quickly. If he gets going then India can very well negate Leach threat easily.

"If he can trust his defence especially at the start of his innings then he can be a special player," says VVS Laxman on Star Sports while explaining the gameplan for Rohit Sharma. He is the well-set batsman for India and he can once again be the difference between the two sides here like he was in Chennai.

Jack Leach is closest England have who can answer India's Axar Patel. The India left-arm spinner did a lot of damage on Day 1 and there is no reason why Leach can't do the same. He has already dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli. India need to be wary of England's left-arm spinner.

If India can bat for two sessions on Day 2, they would be in the driver's seat for the rest of the match.

Ajit Agarkar has said he knew that the pitch was always going to turn. 'It was about when and not if," Agarkar said during the pitch report.

even though it was a pink ball Test, the track looks dry and has assisted the spinners. However, England have gone in with a spinner less. Will that come back to haunt them in this Test/

The pitch is slowing down. But Rohit looks in good touch and a lot will depend how he navigates his innings on Day 2. Rahane scored runs in Chennai but can continue to improve his run-streak? We will wait and see
