Shaw, 18, India’s U-19 World Cup winning skipper, made a change of guard brought about by Gautam Gambhir quitting as skipper count as he played orthodox shots to boost Daredevils after KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik, wary of due later in the night, elected to bowl first. (DD vs KKR IPL 2018 SCORES)
Prithvi Shaw, playing only his second game of IPL 2018, got his half-century in 38 balls (4x6, 1x6). Delhi Daredevils were 88/1 after 10.4 overs.
New Zealand’s left-handed opener Colin Munro led the early hitting as he struck an 18-ball 13 and raised a 59-run opening stand with Shaw, who hit leg-spinner Piyush Chawla for two fours in the third over before hitting pacers Shivam Mavi and Mitchell Johnson through point for two more boundaries.
His best shot of the fifty was a pick up hit against the veteran Aussie pacer for six over long on.
