Such is the persona of the man that he is welcomed by rapturous applause whenever he strides out to bat. His influence on young Indian cricketers is immense and for this Indian side, the presence of Dhoni is like having a mentor, a guardian at the helm.
Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier at Chennai and after the match, Hardik Pandya, who has been brilliant this season for Mumbai, walked up to Dhoni and exchanged tips. The all-rounder has always been vocal about the influence of the former skipper on his game and career and he posted a message along with a picture with Dhoni.

“My inspiration, my friend, my brother, my legend @msdhoni,” Hardik Pandya wrote on his Twitter account.
Chennai Super Kings did not have a very good game as Mumbai Indians registered an easy win by six wickets to book a slot in the finals. Speaking at the end of the match, CSK skipper MS Dhoni conceded that things did not go in favour of this side.
“Somebody has to lose, things really didn’t go our way, especially batting. These are the best batsmen we have got, it looks like we are batting well, but at times they pull off shots that shouldn’t be played,” Dhoni said after the match.
