Hindustan Times, New Delhi
Sunrisers Hyderabad, a team which arrested their slide after the win against Chennai Super Kings, will look to continue with the momentum when they face Kolkata Knight Riders, a side which has lost four matches on the trot.
KKR could make few tweaks to their playing XI and now, other players will have to step up and support Andre Russell if they have to get back to winning ways. There will be key player battles during this match which will define the course of the contest.
David Warner vs Sunil Narine
Two big names will be up against as soon as the powerplays and KKR would want Narine to get rid of Warner as soon as possible. The left-hander has been in roaring form this season and his record against the spinner is not too bad either.
He has scored 120 runs off 76 balls and has been dismissed twice by Sunil Narine over the years and hence, this battle right at the top will have a massive bearing on the outcome of the match.
Chris Lynn vs Rashid Khan
The big-hitting batsman has got off to bright starts in a few games but has not been able to play an innings of note this season. KKR would want him to bat deep into the innings.
However, his biggest worry will be Rashid Khan. Lynn has struggled to find his footing against the leg spinner as in 19 balls faced, he has only managed to score 18 runs and has been dismissed only once.
Williamson could chuck the ball to Rashid early in the match to get the better of the Australian.
Andre Russell vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Well, Russell is on a rampage and it started back when SRH took on KKR at Eden Gardens earlier in the season. He absolutely tore into Bhuvneshwar Kumar back then and once again, this battle will be key to the proceedings of this match.
In 8 balls bowled by Bhuvneshwar, Russell has smoked him for 23 runs and has not been dismissed even once. How will Bhuvi react in this match after the mauling will be an interesting watch.
Manish Pandey vs Piyush Chawla
For all the hype and talent around Manish Pandey, he has not fired since 2018, which has forced the management to rest him. However, he could get a game against KKR and this is the match, where he should finally step up and make a statement.
Now, his biggest threat will be Piyush Chawla - he has managed to score only 12 runs in 11 balls and has been dismissed once by the leggie. Another interesting battle is on the cards.
Dinesh Karthik vs Siddarth Kaul
It has not been a very consistent season for Siddarth Kaul. Also, Dinesh Karthik is struggling to score runs, but both these players will hold the key when the tournament has ventured into the business phase.
Karthik mans the middle order and Kaul, more often than not, tries to pick up wickets after the powerplays, and hence, this battle can be pretty interesting.
