IPL 2022 Highlights, SRH vs CSK: MS Dhoni starts with a win, Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs

Marco Jansen bled 63 runs in his four overs against Gujarat Titans and it remains to see whether the South African retains his place in the eleven. Hyderabad have Kartik Tyagi waiting in the wings.

Umran Malik has been the find of the season as he outsmarted the top batters of the world with his brutal pace. In the previous game against Gujarat Titans, he returned 5/25, albeit in a losing cause.

The pacer from Jammu has so far picked up 15 wickets from eight matches at a strike rate of 12.00.

While Hyderabad batters have blown hot and cold, their pace factory is arguably the most consistent in the 10-team tournament. Natarajan is troubling the batters with toe crushing yorkers and tidy bowling in the death overs in the IPL. Bhuvneshwar has been offering his experience and swing while Umran Malik it dismantling teams with his raw pace.

CSK have struggled on the bowling front as well. Rookie pacer Mukesh Choudhary on rare occasion has provided the side with early breakthrough, while Dwaine Pretorius too has been ordinary. 

Ambati Rayudu's form has been a positive indicator for the Yellow Army. The middle-order batter, despite enduring a blow on his wrist or fingers while fielding, he went to score a brilliant 39-ball 78-run against Punjab Kings. He is currently the second-highest run-getter from the CSK camp, scoring 246 off 8 matches.

If we look at the CSK camp, their main concern has been a good start at the top. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had won the Orange Cap in the previous edition, has been quiet, something which has hurt the franchise a lot. Batting at an average of 17.25, Gaikwad has just managed 138 runs in the eight matches, the franchise have played so far. 

Apart from him senior player Robin Uthappa and all-rounder Shivam Dube too need to get back to scoring runs. 

Not just with the ball, but SRH have a problems aplenty in the batting department as well. Skipper Kane Williamson has not been able to fire with the bat, and so has been wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran. 

Rahul Tripathi needs to continue his fine run. Batting at a healthy average of just a little over 45, the SRH batter has amassed 228 runs from 8 encounters. 

Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, got off to a strong start against Gujarat and will hope for a similar show again tonight. Both him and Aiden Markram had completed their respective half centuries.

While Umran Malik was sensational with the ball, his colleagues failed to produce an inspiring show, especially young Proteas pacer Marco Jansen. The tall and lanky seamer failed to defend 22 runs in the final over as SRH lost the contest by five wickets against Gujarat Titans. 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is the senior most custodian, also has not stood up to the expectations and will be hoping to produce a stronger show in the clash against CSK.  

While most of the attention will be on Dhoni and many will hope to see him end on the winning side it won't be a cakewalk for CSK, who'll be up against the brut pace of Umran Malik. 

The Jammu and Kashmir speedster, who has already impressed many with his searing pace, completed his maiden five-wicket haul in the competition in the previous encounter and will be pumped to deliver again against CSK. 

Chennai Super Kings released an official statement, explaining why Jadeja decided to step down from the position.

"Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK," the franchise said in a statement.

"MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game."
