Jos Buttler notched his second consecutive fifty in IPL 2018 as he was the only bright spot in an otherwise disappointing batting performance by Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Friday. (HIGHLIGHTS)

Fresh from his 26-ball 67 against Delhi Daredevils, Buttler made his intentions clear when he punched a short of a length delivery from Ashwin through cover in the very first over. (SCORECARD)

Buttler then hit three boundaries off fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot in the second over. While two of them were pulled to deep mid-wicket boundary, the third one was cut towards deep backward point.

The England ODI and T20I vice-captain then helped a short delivery from Mujeeb Zadran past extra cover. This was his fifth boundary in his first 12 balls.

Buttler survived a close call in the seventh over. He was caught in front on Ashwin’s bowling but replays showed that the impact was outside.

He stitched a 49-run stand with Sanju Samson (28) before the RR no 4 was removed by Andrew Tye in the 11th over. Buttler reached his fifty with a boundary (off Mujeeb) towards point in the 13th over.
